More information on diabetes

Diabetes is the leading cause of death among minorities. The type of diabetes is usually type 2, which is when the body does produce insulin but the body is resistant to it. There is also type 1 diabetes which is when the body does not produce insulin. Unlike type 2, type 1 diabetes cannot be reversed regardless of the individuals change toward a healthy lifestyle. This information would be helpful not only to the minority population but also to health care providers and promoters. This is a growing problem and can be resolved with awareness, the right tools and participation. The links below are websites that go more in-depth about this issue and many others. I just chose to discuss this one because it is a growing problem that needs to get under control. It is a problem that we actually have some soultions for and have control over, but it still is the leading cause of death for minorities.

  1. I agree on the fact that more people should be aware of this disease. My cousin just found out she has type 2 diabetes and she is also pregnant. She may have to have the baby prematurely or it may cause complications for her, as well as the baby. Its pretty sad, but I can't wait to see what other information you find on the matter.
